A Good Man Is Hard To Find
This short story is much like modern times. When the grandmother was confronted by The Misfit, it was the only time she was respectful of another person and even hinted that she was religious.
The story begins with the grandmother being very cautious for the family trip to Florida because she read about a man who was called The Misfit on the paper that escaped from prison and heading to Florida as well. The father, Bailey, just ignored her and kept reading the sports section of the paper. When he ignored her, she took the section The Misfit was on and started shaking it on his head to get his attention. This is the first sign of disrespect, and to her own son at that.
