Case B - Martin’s Dilemma
On August 12, 1992, Canada, Mexico, and the United States came together and agreed to form the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). Under this agreement, which went into effect in 1994, all tariffs between the three countries would be eliminated within the next 10 to 15 years, with most being radically cut within 5 years. The plan had a major effect on textile industry, especially when it aimed at removing all tariffs on textiles trade within 10 years. Mexico and Canada were also granted a quota for textile imports into the U.S. Many expressed fears that jobs in the textile sectors would inevitably be lost to foreign workers. Indirectly NAFTA...
