Alphonse Mucha
Alphonse Mucha was a very influential but seldom mentioned figure in the history of art. He was born in 1860 at Ivancice in Southern Moravia, Czechoslovakia. He lived in Paris from 1887, which is where most of his work was recognized as an illustrator. Mucha was not just a painter and a graphic artist. He was also interested in sculpture, jewelry, interior decorating and utilitarian art. His major breakthrough in the world of art and international fame was in 1984 with his poster of the actress, Sarah Bernhardt. Mucha’s style influenced today’s advertisings, book covers, poster designs, and even comic. He was most famous Czech artist of the Art Nouveau era.
