Barack Obama was born August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, Hawaii. His African- American father, Barack Obama Sr. was from Kenya and his Caucasian mother, Ann Dunham, was from Kansas. Shortly after he was born, Barack’s father left and went to the mainland. Although his father wasn’t there, Barack always had a smile on his face. He also was very close to his grandfather. When Barack was six, his mother married another foreign student. After they were married, Barack and his family moved to Indonesia, but his mother sent him back to Hawaii for better education.
