Beowulf
Beowulf is one of England’s great works of literature. This epic was believed to be composed sometime between 700 A.D. and 750 A.D. However the oldest copy of a Beowulf manuscript is dates back to 1000 A.D. Beowulf has been translated many times over the years. The most popular being Seamus Heaney’s translation in 2000.
The epic opens with Grendel, who is a man eating monster that lives at the bottom of a foul lake, located in the mountains.
