When I was a child, I would watch a lot of sports. Most of the male athletes on television are large muscular men with glamorous lives. I dreamt of one day being like the sports stars I saw on television and in magazines. It was apparent to me that the overweight men in my family were not as active as some of the others who were lean, and athletic, and able to play sports with their kids in the yard. In elementary school, the overweight kids were teased and not very popular. The kids who were more athletic bullied the smaller skinny children who were not able to defend themselves very well.
