INTRODUCTION

The term Bottlenecks refers to a single task in a process chain that takes the longest time to accomplish and, in turn, ends up limiting or delaying the entire performance of the process flow. It can be defined as “any resource whose capacity is less than the demand placed on it.” (Chase, Jacobs, and Aquilano 2006) Most processes will encounter bottlenecks at some point or another and it is important to identify them in order to accurately analyze process capacity and improve overall performance and efficiency.
