Race and ethnicity is used to describe people’s cultural background or history and physical attributes such as eye shape, hair texture or skin color however it should not be used by society to form ill-perceived notions of an individual. Understanding that everyone has a unique cultural background and that at one time prejudice, discrimination and racism has been experienced by many different ethnic groups including my Italian ancestors provides me with an understanding of all minority groups.
