Child Abuse

Child abuse is defined as being the physical, emotional, or sexual abuse or neglect of children. Child abuse may be a life threatening social problem for children today. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, “Physical abuse can be identified as punching, beating, kicking, biting, burning, shaking , or otherwise harming a child” (Joint Commission Resources 6). It is defined as any act that results in a non- accidental trauma or physical injury.
