About 1.5 million American couples are cohabitating with children in the home. The number of couples that choose to cohabitate is rising as well as the number of children living without resident fathers. Although cohabitation is not part of the ideal American Family, it does have some benefits, but it is not a very good option if children are involved.
Marriage is not a prerequisite to living with a partner.
