In Columbus’ first letter to qeen Isabella the tone is extremely excited and proud.
You can tell this by the way he speaks throughout the entire letter of how he
discovered many new land masses and of how beautiful each are. Though towards the
end of the letter he starts to elaborate and little to much as if he’s trying to hide the failure
in which the mission truly is in the eyes of the qeen. He knows she wanted him to not
only find new land but to conquer it and bring back gold to her country. In the fourth
