Defense Mechanisms
1) The people closest to me would include my family. My sister expresses the defense mechanism of denial. She does not really confront painful or stressful situations in her life and believes that everything is ok. My sister-in-law expresses the mechanism of repression. She does not recall situations where she was wrong. She easily forgets instances where she was proven wrong, but she remembers every instance where she was right. I would have to say that I express displacement. I tend to misdirect my frustrations with other people, onto others. For example, my frustrations with my boss are expressed to my sister.
