The case that I decided to determine a diagnosis code for was the 44-year old male that presented with intermitted chest pain, and the physician orders an EKG. This can be a myocardial infarction situation, or a heart attack. This happens when there is a sudden blockage of a coronary artery by a blood clot. The blockage of the coronary artery takes away the blood and oxygen of the heart, causing injury to the heart muscle; this in cause makes the patient have chest pains.
