In the article “Kill ’Em! Crush ’Em! Eat ‘Em Raw!†by John McMurtry, the author describes some the effects of football on aficionados as “not being released from supposed feelings of violent aggression by watching his athletics heroes perform it so much as encouraged in that view that people-smashing is an admirable mode of self expression.†Likewise, dogfighting involves feelings of violence by watching two dogs fighting, sometimes even to death.
