Purpose and Background
The Dorian Shainin Medal was established in 2004 by the American Society of Quality (ASQ) to honor a quality paradigm pioneer, consultant, engineer, author and college professor Dorian Shainin (September 26, 1914 - January 7, 2000) . The medal is awarded to individuals that demonstrate an outstanding use of unique or creative applications of statistical techniques in the solving problems related to the quality of a product or service .
