According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration [SAMHSA] (2008), “In 2007, about 10.7 million persons or 27.9 percent of those ages 12 to 20 report drinking alcohol in the past month; approximately 7.2 million or 18.6 percent are binge drinkers, and 2.3 million or 6.0 percent are heavy drinkers.
