This assignment requires a plan to present to upper management that would (hopefully) head off any union action. Without knowing exactly what the issue is I find it difficult to come up with a specific plan of action. After hearing these rumors about the union taking some complaints to upper management, I would most likely approach the union steward and ask if there is anything we should talk about before it is taken to that level. The union complaint may actually be on a subject that I, as supervisor, may have some control over.
