Ethics Reflection
When developing a strategic plan, it is essential to consider stakeholder expectations. Stakeholders are those parties that are affected by a firm’s actions (Pearce & Robinson, 2007). Internal stakeholders include stockholders and employees; external stakeholders include competitors, vendors, customers, and the local communities. Firms are recognizing that their responsibilities expand beyond the needs of stockholders to contributing positively to society as a whole, also known as the social responsibilities of the firm. When devising a corporate strategic plan, consideration must be given to both internal and external stakeholders.
