Ethics
The old woman is a burden on society and has no contributions. Therefore, she does not get to leave the earth without having made some kind of contribution towards bettering society or the lives of others. While taking her life would be a very drastic action, the money that she posses should not be buried on the monastery and be put towards the benefiting of others. A person no matter how "stupid, senseless, worthless, spiteful, ailing and horrid" (Dostoyevsky, Crime and Punishment) she is, does not deserve to be killed over what she posses. Letting her live out her life is the only choice that is the right choice but the money needs to be taken and be put towards the bettering the lives...
