Explication
Imagine if you will for one brief moment what it was like when you were in your first weeks of life. Can you remember? Most likely you will not remember the first few years of your life let alone the first weeks. In the poem entitled, My First weeks, by Sharon Olds, the author provides the reader with a very explicit detailed version of almost exactly what was to happen in the first few weeks of a child’s life. The author peers into a tiny one’s world opening up the reader’s eyes to what wonderment a newborn will find in its new surroundings.
As an adult we are afforded the luxury of reflecting back on our past. Not many would choose to reflect back all the way...
