Fidel Alejandro Castro Ruz was Cuba’s most recent political leader. He was born on August 13, 1926 near MayarÃ, Cuba. His father was Ãngel Castro y Argiz, who worked on the sugar plantation where Castro was born. His mother was Lina Ruz González, who was a maid to Ãngel’s first wife. Fidel’s father was not a very faithful man, for he had another wife while being married to Castro’s mother. All of Castro’s siblings were conceived out of wedlock.
