“In September 1989, Jack Welch, then General Electric Co.'s chairman, flew to India for a sales call. He hoped to sell products like airplane engines and plastics to the Indian government” (Pardon, 2004, para. 1) . What began as a sales call, transformed into a partnership, and eventually into a financial gain and opportunity for GE. In 1991, General Electric (GE) began investing in India in technology and business service sectors creating credibility and cash for India as created a large, educated, English-speaking call center workforce in India.
