Revenge leads to Tragedy
In William Shakespeare's tragedy "Hamlet" the main theme discussed
throughout the play was revenge, and how the acts of certain individuals lead to the
downfall of many. Hamlet, Fortinbras, and Laertes all seek revenge regarding the deaths of their
fathers.
It is interesting that Hamlet is a revenge tragedy. It is driven by a protagonist named
Hamlet who is unable to commit an act of revenge. In the story, it is Hamlet’s inability to
avenge the murder of his father that drives him to commit murder himself. It also paves the way
