Sam Sheppard was a young, successful physician who lived in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio. On July 4th, 1954 his pregnant wife Marilyn was murdered in their home, soon after he was arrested on suspicion of her murder. Throughout his trial he declared he was innocent, and claimed he wrestled with a “bushy-haired stranger”, knocked out cold and woke up to find his wife dead.
