My name is Ana Cann and I am from Ireland but I now live in Hartford, Connecticut. The last two years of my life have changed dramatically and I will never forget the devastation in my homeland. In 1845 blight reached the shores of Ireland and things changed forever. We got on a ship and made our way to the United States. Things were very hard and Americans did not like us. Americans has an impression that Irish people were lazy. We went from shelter to shelter and some days we did not eat. Life was very hard but I was just happy to be alive. I now have a job that feeds, clothes, and keeps a roof over our heads. I am very blessed and my spirit cannot be broken.
