Even though its name was removed from history books, its therapeutic and industrial traits are scattered throughout the history of man. It was prescribed medicine in Asia for countless illnesses dating back to prehistory. Ancient civilizations survived on absolutely nothing but its seed. Discovery of its strong fibers allowed ships to make it to the new world. Its fibers were woven into the first American flag and eventually pressed to make the paper of which the Declaration of Independence was written on.
