Lizzie Bright And The Buckminster Boy

In the passage I have selected, the author has described the setting where Turner is rowing the dory across the sea with Lizzie, who is almost unconscious. This takes place just after sunset and it is high tide. Since it is high tide, it makes it difficult for Turner to row a dory at this time of day, especially if he hasn't rowed a boat before. In addition, the sky is purple, a color that could represent mixed feelings. Turner seems to have a 'purple' feeling too; he is not scared, but he is worried about Lizzie's situation.
