Although Marzano mentions several key influences on student achievement, the two that stand out the most to me are creating a climate of high expectations and involvement of parents and community. I truly believe that by creating a climate of high expectations students and teachers rise to meet those expectations. If we, as teachers, accept mediocrity, that is exactly what we will get. I believe it is important for a principal to accept nothing but the best for his/her school. That means that the principal will not tolerate mediocre teaching, and mediocre outcomes.
