My Papa'S Waltz By: Theodore Roethke

In the short lyric poem, “My Papa’s Waltz”, by Theodore Roethke, the speaker’s attitude toward the waltz is dislike, hurt, but also perseverance to ultimately show their father the love and disappointment the speaker has towards him. The attitude of the speaker toward his father and the waltz they do is conveyed through several different methods.
