Both Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton served on George Washington’s cabinet, but they both had very different views on how to run the newly founded United States. Washington realized that he needed the balance and he came up with a list of requirements to select his candidates. He selected his candidates upon their opinions, specialties, and policies.
