Preface-interesting part of Rowson’s life- when she is lowered over the boat in winter by her father during her first relocation to the US. Her family was loyalist and is imprisoned during revolution and sent back to England She migrates to the US again after he marriage- seems that she is in charge of this migration and has a plan It seems that she strategically marries a ne'er-do-well to retain her independence. He doesn't seem to control her life- not classic patriarchal marriage
