Prior to the IPO at WorldCom and in the humbled beginnings, WorldCom was much like Gene One in terms of globalization, branching out and providing a superior product to the world. In 1984, WorldCom was a small, but very successful telecommunications corporation. WorldCom saw the need to develop and create a new and improved service for its customers.
